The Junior Federated Women’s Club of Chester (JFWCC) is federated under the charter of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The GFWC is an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. We are also a member of the state, General Federation of Women's Clubs-Virginia, and local Lee District organizations.
JFWCC members are dedicated to positively affecting the lives of residents in and around the Chester, Virginia area. In 2009, JFWCC club members generously volunteered over 4,000 hours of volunteer work which amounted to nearly $27,000 in worthy contributions to the community.
Our projects support many different areas to include education, health, and home life. In February of 2010, we enjoyed our 6th successful major fundraiser, our annual Black Tie and Diamonds Ball, which resulted in $15,000 being dispersed to worthy causes in our community. Our 7th annual ball will be held on February 26, 2011. The General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is one of the world's largest and oldest nonpartisan, nondenominational, women's volunteer service organizations, founded in 1890 and chartered by the 56th United States Congress in 1901. More than 100,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries work in their own communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage civic involvement, and work toward world peace and understanding
